Dear readers, today we sit pretty with a lady named Christina. She kindly obliged my request for this session, and I'll tell you why I asked her to participate (though I'm sure you'll see why when you see her responses). I stumbled upon her delightful blog, Full House, a while ago. I was blown away by this beautiful woman, the fact that she seems to look glamorous and put together even while taking a stroll in her neighborhood, she has excellent taste in design, fashion, and food... all while mothering twin girls and triplet boys.
Then she came out with her etsy shop, Madame Pumphrey, and blew me away once again with her creative abilities. (You'll need to check out her sold items to see what I mean.)
As I came to know her better through emails, I came to find she was kind, funny, and simply lovely.
I chose the above picture from her blog for this session because it shows just one example of Christina's everyday elegance while she's spending time with her little ones.
So without further ado, please take a moment to read through this session and take from it the light that is Christina.
BLB: What is your definition of "ladylike"?
To be ladylike is to be refined. To be soft but strong. To be disciplined in speech... know when to hold your tongue but also have the confidence to speak up when it is appropriate. To embrace the purpose of being a woman and to have manners....just to name a few.
BLB: As a mother of twin daughters and triplet sons, how do you prioritize your day, and how do you let each child know they are loved individually?
Oh what a great question. You pretty much answered the question within your own question because as a mother of twins and triplets I prioritize my day by first and foremost trying to let each and every single one of my children to know that they are loved individually by me and by their Father in Heaven on a daily basis. There are certain tools that help me to accomplish the before said objective that I try and work into my priority list.
Praying often.
Getting up at least an hour earlier to have a head start. If I do this then I find that I can be more efficient during the day and it frees up so much more quality time that I can give to my children.
Making lists.
Once a week date night with a different child.
Using the example I have from my Savior as the best way to love and teach.
My faith.
My belief that motherhood will be my most noble calling.
Lots of field trips to help children to become socialized and cultured.
Being flexible.
Lots of Affection.
Finding time to fill my personal cup with things that I enjoy.
I feel like prioritizing is so personal and what works for one may not work for another and may even change from season to season. In my season right now I choose quite a few things over the cleanliness of my house. Yes it is important but I would rather do things that include playing because as I see it the messes will always be there but the little children will not and I want them to remember the fun we had...(some may find that very unladylike...haha-)
BLB: With all of what goes on in your day, you still manage to look lovely and presentable at every turn. How do you work that into everything?
Wow, what do I say to that Bethany..
I guess I would say a little make-up, a necklace, a scarf and a hat may just be my best friends. I often go days without washing my hair so I have to find ways to get around the not so fresh look. I do have to say I have mastered the "fake the look of spending lots of time to get ready" look with some of those things that I have mentioned. For me I usually feel so much better when I at least spend a little time to actually get dressed and look presentable. It makes me feel more like a lady...which feels good.
If I work getting ready into that hour before the kids get up then I am set. If not, I won't get around to getting ready until after the girls have left for preschool and usually have 6 little hands touching all of my make-up while I get ready..which has been known to happen quite often. One of my sons is partial to lipstick:-)
BLB: With Madame Pumphrey, your creativity is unleashed, and you create such beautiful things. Do you feel that being creative is connected with being a lady? If so, in what way(s)?
Oh my goodness absolutely without a doubt do I feel that being creative is connected with being a lady.
Being a lady literally means remembering that I am a spirit daughter of the most creative Being in the universe. He wants us to be like Him which means that we should find great joy & satisfaction from being creative and being a lady. There are so many ways that we can express our creativity. For me I love to use my creativity in decorating my home and making crafts.
BLB: In your opinion, what is the most important quality a lady can possess?
Charity....
To master the art of loving as purely as our Savior does....from there I feel the domino effect will happen and all of the traits to being a lady will fall into place.
